We had a little family getaway last weekend after Thanksgiving up to Duluth. I had posted on my stories a few places we went and had many people reach out to ask where I was. That being said, I thought I would share some of the highlights with you all. Travel and adventure is probably one of my favorite past times, so If I’m able to share recommendations of my “must-sees”, “must-dos” & “must-eats” and potentially support a small business – then why not! Also, while traveling and out to eat – if they have a charcuterie board on the menu, you know I’m going to get it! You will see a few here.
. New Scenic Café (New Scenic Café) – Probably one of my favorite restaurants in Duluth. It’s just a short drive from the city but worth it. Cozy atmosphere with New American Cuisine. This menu allows you to be adventurous. We shared the bread & butter, charcuterie board AKA “Smorgasbord” (pickled herring, smoked salmon, deviled eggs, pickled beets, olives, cornichons, dried fruit, cheese, mustard and etc.) it was amazing and for $23 I thought reasonably priced. We paired it with a lovely crisp cider. Moon Market (The Moon Market)-While we were waiting for New Scenic to open, we stumbled upon the Moon Market and did a little shopping. Such a cute shop! I got a few new jams and honeys to taste test! Perfect stop for browsing and to grab a cup of coffee. . Black Water Lounge (Black Water Lounge) – After being closed for almost 2 years they are back open and better than ever! The vibes alone are worth the visit. I can imagine this is where my fave, Frank Sinatra, would hang out if he was still around located right on Superior Street downtown in the historic Greysolon Plaza. Known for their Live Jazz & Fancy cocktails. We each enjoyed a drink, fondue & a sushi roll. Go here. . Pickwick (Pickwick) – The views. The food. The coziness. It's been around for 100 years for a reason! We stopped in for lunch. They are known for their homemade soups. That being said, I had to get some! I had the Manhattan Clam Chowder with Shrimp & the Salmon Cake Sandwich. We sat by the fire and really enjoyed it. Afterwards, head to Fitger’s right next door and visit all the shops! . The Boat Club (Boat Club) – Located in Fitger’s, we only stopped in here for a drink while shopping. We had just ate, but usually this place is on my list of go-tos while in Duluth. Great food and views of Lake Superior. . The Sheraton (Sheraton Duluth Hotel) – We stayed at the Sheraton downtown for our last night. Great lake view and updated clean room. They have a fun lobby bar and restaurant. I ordered their Signature Cheese Platter (House-made boursin, manchego, chevre, fresh fruit, seasonal jam, olive tapenade $14) to bring to our room. We enjoyed it while watching Elf and relaxed after our fun filled weekend. . Glensheen Mansion (Glensheen) – A Duluth staple. I love coming during the holiday season, as the mansion is decorated so festive with many Christmas trees! They have an “Elf Scavenger Hunt” that was so enjoyable for my niece to hunt for the elves during our self-guided tour. What a fun addition to this historic landmark. . Amazing Grace Café (Amazing Grace Cafe)– A great spot for breakfast, made from scratch. Located in Canal Park in the DeWitt-Seitz Marketplace. We enjoyed our coffee & breakfast while being serenaded by live jazz music while eating at 9AM. Loved that. . We also checked out Bentleyville while there with my niece and nephew, but I must say, I am partial to the light displays we have locally here. We also stayed at Edgewater Hotel & Water Park, which was perfect for the kids. They loved to swim and it was fun watching them create memories. The food was pretty good at the hotel, but the water park has limited hours due to staffing. The rooms are a bit dated, but it’s a great place if you have kids! . I hope you enjoyed reading this. Sorry for the length of the post Have you been to any of these places? What is your favorite in Duluth?
